About Us
Kim Skobba, Principal
I have partnered with public, private, and nonprofit organizations for over two decades to seek answers, understand problems, and translate ideas into action. My path to becoming a professor, housing researcher, and consultant has been more marathon than sprint. I was working in public relations when I discovered the housing studies program at the University of Minnesota. I completed a master's degree and worked for several nonprofit housing organizations in the Twin Cities. Motivated by questions about why people move, I returned to complete a PhD. Along the way, I started working as an independent consultant. In 2011, I was hired as an assistant professor in the housing management and policy program at the University of Georgia. Fifteen years later, I still learn something new daily in this job. The launch of Proficient Owl Group is a culmination of these experiences. It allows me to apply my expertise and skills in new and diverse ways. It keeps me in touch with what is happening in the housing world and enables me to collaborate with people and organizations I value and respect.
